Getting started
What type of jobs are available on HireMyService?
The short answer is: all sorts. We offer a wide range of temp, long-term, and temp-perm job opportunities across a number of different industries – primarily: Industrial, Cleaning, Hospitality, Retail, and Clerical.
These roles range from warehouse operatives to waiting staff, to chefs, to retail assistants, to cleaners, to sales support, and beyond. There’s something to suit everyone.
What are the requirements to join HireMyService?
We try to make it as simple as possible to join Service Provider. However, as a minimum, you must:
- Be at least 18 years old
- Successfully complete an I-9 form, through E-Verify
- Have a smartphone, as we’re an app-based service
- Have a registered UK bank account
- Have a completed profile (professional picture and summary of your skills and experience)
Can I use HireMyServiceas a long-term career solution?
Yes – we provide temp roles and shift work, but we also provide long-term and temp-perm roles, depending on the company offering them. In fact, we’ve chosen to highlight this on the job cards you’ll see within the app. For example, you’ll see “Long-term” at the bottom of some of them.
But even if you’re working short-term temp roles, or shift to shift, you can still use this as a long-term career solution, as companies may add you to their talent pool – meaning they’ll pick you again and again for roles.
Ultimately, we cater to different lifestyles and needs, so you can choose how to shape your career.
Can I still find work with HireMyService even though I have limited experience and skills?
Yes, there are plenty of roles on the app that don’t require you to have years of experience or a specific skill set – roles such as picker packer, retail assistant, kitchen assistant, general staff, sales support, and more.
You can start in these roles, and then work your way up as you gain more experience.
Is HireMyService suitable for students?
Yes it is – for college students aged 18 or over.
We offer the ideal opportunity to earn an income by fitting work around your studies, with flexible opportunities that fit in with your academic timetable.
So you could, for example, work part time during your semester, then take on more hours outside of that during your holidays.
How soon can I start working for HireMyService?
Once you’ve found a job on the app within your area, successfully passed the interview, and completed our onboarding process, you should be able to start booking jobs right away. However, please be aware that the timing may vary depending on factors such as the demand for workers in your area and the specific requirements for the roles you’re interested in.
But we always aim to minimize the waiting period.
Can I work multiple roles at the same time?
Yes, as long as you’ve successfully passed your interview and have the required skills to carry them out.
For example, in the industrial sector, you may be able to work as an assembler, picker packer, and machine operator.
Or you may be able to work across multiple industries e.g. as a forklift truck driver, a retail assistant, or security staff.
What locations does HireMyService have jobs in?
Indeed Flex has jobs available across multiple states in the US:
- Swindon, UK
And we’ll continue to grow together as Indeed Flex expands into new markets.
How does HireMyService ensure the quality and reliability of job opportunities?
Companies must post jobs that will appeal to Service Providers, challenge them, and meet their expectations – giving them a positive experience.
And Service Providers can rate companies, giving them even greater reason to provide quality opportunities.
Where do I go to get help?
You can get help in a number of ways – all through the app.
You can watch our video tutorials, covering things like “How to book a shift” and “The importance of your profile.”
You can also search our FAQs for answers to the questions we’re most frequently asked.
What types of benefits are available to HireMyService?
We offer medical, dental, and vision cover, as well as short-term disability, term life, and minimum essential coverage, through Essential StaffCARE. You can find all of the details here.
We also offer Same Day Pay – allowing you to get paid as soon as one hour after working a shift.
On top of this, we offer bonuses through our Refer a Friend program and free training for certain roles.
How do I get verified?
How do I get verified to work through HireMyService?
You get verified by being successfully interviewed by an HMS recruiter, at which point you’ll need to provide all required documentation for onboarding and confirm any skills and experience necessary for the role you’ve applied for.
Verification allows you to freely browse and book available jobs in your area that match your preferences.
Can I get verified even if there are no jobs in my area?
Unfortunately not. We don’t want to waste your valuable time as a candidate, so we won’t verify you unless we know we can match your needs in terms of available jobs in your area, which match your skills and experience.
But it’s worth checking the app on a regular basis, as new jobs and companies are always being added.
Will I receive notifications when more jobs become available in my area?
Yes, you will.
You’ll receive emails, texts, and push notifications, so you don’t miss out on the roles you want. Just make sure you enable notifications and subscribe for emails.
What do I need to prepare before the interview?
There are four main things you need to consider before interview:
- Have the correct documents available that prove you’re eligible to work in the UK
- Dress to impress. If you’re going for a hospitality role, wear what you’d wear for the job. If in doubt, a plain white shirt and dark slacks are a good choice.
- Be prepared to discuss your skills and experience relative to the role you’ve applied for – are there any past examples which show that you’re the right person for the job?
- Be ready to ask some questions about the role. It shows you’re interested and really want it.
Do I have to interview for each role?
Not always. It depends on the role(s).
For example, you can be qualified as general staff, waiting staff, festival staff, and bar work without having to have separate interviews for each role.
However, if it’s a specialist role, you’ll need a separate interview or orientation. For instance, you may be required to attend safety orientation training before you can start.
Do I need an authorized representative to complete the I-9 form?
Can I be my own authorized representative?
What should I expect when uploading I-9 documents?
We’ve partnered with Workbright to simplify the I-9 process. All you have to do is follow in-app prompts to complete the first phase of the process to upload your documentation.
Once you’ve uploaded and submitted your documents, you’ll be prompted to enter the mobile number for your designated representative, who will review your documents and verify your identity.
Your designated representative will receive a text with a link. Upon receipt, they should tap the link and begin by confirming their location. Your designated representative will review your documentation and should finish their review with certification of their identity.
How will I know what is required for the background check?
The HMS standard background check includes a review of the last 7 years. If you happen to have committed an offense during that time, it will be reviewed against the EEOC green factors such as, the nature and gravity of the offense or conduct; the time that has passed since the offense and/or completion of the sentence; and the nature of the job you’re looking to take on.
Please note: Specific clients of HMS may have unique background check requirements, due to the nature of the role they’re offering. Please check with your recruiter for more details.
Book your first shift
How do I book a job?
You can book a job in one of two ways:
1. Head to the “Browse” tab on the app, look for a job that suits your skills, experience, and location, tap on that job, then tap “Apply.” That job will then appear under ‘Applied’ (top of the screen), under the ‘My Jobs’ tab.
If the company accepts your application, that job will then appear under “Offered,” at which point you can tap “Book job” and it will appear under “Booked.”
2. Head to the “My Jobs” tab on the app, where you’ll see “Offered” jobs. These are jobs that have been offered to you directly by a company. In this instance, you just need to tap on that job, and tap “Book shift” as quickly as possible. That job should then be yours, and will appear under “Booked.”
In both cases, the job will appear on your Home screen as your next, upcoming shift, and you’ll need to confirm your attendance at least 24 hours before the start time.
Booked, Offered, and Applied: What’s the difference?
It’s pretty simple.
Applied = you’ve simply applied for that role, but not yet been accepted for it. You’ll have to wait and see if the company decides to offer it to you.
Offered = the company wants to take you on – the role has been offered to you, so grab it before any other Flexers do!
Booked = The job is yours. That’s it – it’s in the bag. All you have to do now is confirm your attendance (at least 24 hours in advance) and turn up on time, in the correct uniform, and clock in. We recommend arriving 15 minutes before your shift time, just to be fully prepared.
Payment
How do I get paid for the jobs I complete through HireMyService?
You’ll receive your wages in the account you gave us when you entered your bank details into the app, under “Profile.”
The beauty of working through HMS is that it’s all about choice. In this instance, you can choose how you get paid.
You can get paid on a weekly basis, via payroll, with all of your wages going into your account the Friday following the week in which you worked.
Or…
You can choose to get paid almost instantly after a shift, with Same Day Pay. This allows you to withdraw up to 50% of your paycheck, straight into your account.
You’ll receive the remainder on the following Friday, as mentioned above.
Please note, your Same Day Pay advance can only be taken within the same week during which you worked with a deadline of Sunday at midnight.
Can I get paid daily?
Yes. See answer concerning Same Day Pay.
Via our partner, Branch, you can withdraw up to 50% of your earnings on the same day as the one on which you’ve just worked.
